Git Workflow: Branching Strategy, Worktree Script, and Pull Request Template
For parallel development: a branching strategy, a script for separate working directories, and a template for pull requests. The script runs in a disposable repository; separate branches and safe cleanup are measured.
Sample work (demo), not a client job. Built as a trial task with invented example data; the check figures below come from the automatic test run and are not polished.
What was built
- Branching strategy with rules for merging and approval
- Worktree script executed in a disposable repository
- Template for pull requests
- Fictional repository
How it was checked
Automatic test run on 2026-10-31, taken from the log (test data invented, figures measured):
- Demo: Branching strategy, worktree script executed in a disposable repo (2 worktrees, separate branches, safe cleanup), PR template
- 17 tests, counter-test fails
Limits
What this sample does not cover, so nobody expects more:
- Protection rules for main are set by the client in the hosting service; we provide the list
- The script requires a POSIX shell (Linux, macOS, Git Bash) and Git version 2.17 or higher
- Existing history is not rewritten without explicit agreement
