Inventory management: stock-in, stock-out, reorder point, without negative inventory
A small inventory API with items, transactions, and reorder point. Even with many simultaneous stock-outs, the inventory never drops below zero.
Sample work (demo), not a client job. Built as a trial task with invented example data; the check figures below come from the automatic test run and are not polished.
What was built
- Create items, book stock-ins and stock-outs, query inventory
- Reorder point with warning in the inventory list
- Simultaneous stock-outs are protected against each other in the database
How it was checked
Automatic test run on 2026-10-31, taken from the log (test data invented, figures measured):
- 21/21 HTTP/DB cases green
- simultaneous: 10x201 15x409, inventory afterwards 0
Limits
What this sample does not cover, so nobody expects more:
- one storage location, whole quantities; batches/serial numbers/best-before dates, multiple warehouses, and reservations would be extensions, not part of the sample
- no connection to shop/ERP (Shopify, JTL, lexoffice require customer access)
- SQLite for a single server process; multiple instances require PostgreSQL
- warning is queried (GET /warnungen), no email/push notification; user interface not part of the sample
