Newsletter template that holds up even without a stylesheet

An HTML email built with tables as required by email clients: columns stack on mobile, images have alternative text, and the layout does not break even if a program removes the styles.

Sample work (demo), not a client job. Built as a trial task with invented example data; the check figures below come from the automatic test run and are not polished.

What was built

  • Table layout with role=presentation, without script and without form
  • Mobile: columns stacked; screen: side by side
  • A text version for programs that do not display HTML

How it was checked

Automatic test run on 2026-10-31, taken from the log (test data invented, figures measured):

  • Newsletter 4.3 KB: 5 tables role=presentation, 3 images with alt text, 3 links https/mailto, no script/form
  • Chromium 375/600 px with and without <style>: scroll width 375=375/375, 600=600/600, without_style_375=375/375, without_style_600=600/600, columns 375 stacked=True/600 side by side=True

Limits

What this sample does not cover, so nobody expects more:

  • tested in Chromium (375/600 px, with and without <style>) - actual email clients (Outlook desktop with Word engine, Gmail app, Apple Mail) not tested; that would require Litmus/Email on Acid ...
  • nothing sent: deliverability, spam filters, SPF/DKIM/DMARC are not part of the sample
  • dark mode of email clients (color inversion) not tested automatically
  • images generated locally; in the actual email they must be hosted at absolute https addresses
