Product Configurator: Custom-made production with rules, price and delivery date
A custom insect screen configurator checks dimensions, exclusions and mandatory accessories, calculates tiered pricing, shipping and VAT, and provides a delivery date. Python core, JavaScript and UI verifiably calculate identically.
Sample work (demo), not a client job. Built as a trial task with invented example data; the check figures below come from the automatic test run and are not polished.
What was built
- Rules in a single file: dimension limits, exclusions, mandatory accessories, prices and delivery times
- Invalid combinations are rejected with a clear message
- Delivery date based on working days and public holidays, quote as a PDF

The rule set is an example. The interface does not save or send anything; the integration into cart and order is a separate step.
How it was checked
Automatic test run on 2026-10-31, taken from the log (test data invented, figures measured):
- 67 quotes (31 valid, 36 invalid with 20 different error codes, incl. limit values of every dimension limit, tier 4/5-9/10-24/25, quantity 0/200/201, public holidays, web width exact fit, 3 line items) verified against an independently written expected target (Easter formula, divmod rounding
Limits
What this sample does not cover, so nobody expects more:
- The rule set (prices, dimension limits, exclusions, mandatory accessories, delivery times) is an example; the actual rules are provided by the client in writing - transfer into regelwerk.json plus custom …
- Integration into shop/CMS (cart, order, payment, customer account) is a separate step; the interface is static and does not save or send anything
- No production data and no machine connection: cutting via First-Fit-Decreasing (good heuristic, not guaranteed minimum), without mitre cuts, profile deductions and offcut stock
- Public holidays nationwide only 2026-2027 (order date up to 31.10.2027); state holidays, company holidays and supplier bottlenecks are missing - delivery date is a commitment according to the rule, not …
- VAT only 19 % domestic, only EUR; OSS, reverse charge and international shipping not covered
- JS tested in headless Chromium (Playwright); other browsers not tested automatically, appearance not evaluated
- Quote PDF with standard font without stationery and without legal texts (terms and conditions, right of withdrawal, validity period only as a sentence)
