T-shirt design: print-ready motif for light and dark, SVG and screen printing version

A motif for light and dark shirts, as a vector and transparent print file, plus a screen printing version in a few spot colors and a mockup. Resolution, transparency, number of colors and contrast are measured.

Sample work (demo), not a client job. Built as a trial task with invented example data; the check figures below come from the automatic test run and are not polished.

What was built

  • Motif as vector, text converted to outlines
  • Print file with transparent background and safety margin
  • Screen printing version with few colors and hard edges, one film template per color
  • Separate version for light and dark shirts, contrast measured

The preview is scaled down; the full-size print file is included in the delivery. No Illustrator, EPS or PSD file, SVG and PNG are supplied. Colors as RGB with suggestion for screen printing; Pantone and printer profile are only known to the print shop. The mockup is drawn, not a photo on fabric. Motif from own shapes, no trademark search.

How it was checked

Automatic test run on 2026-11-01, taken from the log (test data invented, figures measured):

  • PNG 4500x5400 px, 300 dpi, corners/margin transparent (73.5 % transparent, safety margin 371 px)
  • Screen printing 4/4 colors (max 4), hard edges
  • SVG 7 paths, text in outlines
  • Contrast light min 3.33:1, dark min 6.99:1
  • Mockup motif visible [27.3, 27.7] %
  • Cross-check 7/7 recognized
  • 0 deviations

Limits

What this sample does not cover, so nobody expects more:

  • no Adobe Illustrator file (.ai) and no EPS/PSD - supplied are SVG (opens Illustrator, Inkscape, Affinity) and PNG; print shops requiring .ai need a conversion in the program …
  • Colors as RGB-Hex with suggestion for screen printing spot colors; true Pantone matching and color profile of the print shop (textile printing, fabric, pre-treatment) are not available - the print tone deviates from …
  • Text converted to outlines without kerning table; motif only from own shapes and system font (Arial) - no hand-drawn illustration, no photo, no screening (halftone) for …
  • Mockup is a drawn representation, not a photo on fabric with folds and lighting; the print size on the shirt is determined by the print shop (4500x5400 px = 38 x 46 cm at 300 dpi)
  • Trademark law: no search for risk of confusion with registered trademarks or protected motifs
