Packaging design: folding box with die-cut contour, bleed and barcode
A folding box as a print PDF: custom net shape layout, die-cut and crease lines as spot colors, bleed, CMYK colors, embedded fonts and a valid EAN-13 barcode. Dimensions have been verified by measurement.
Sample work (demo), not a client job. Built as a trial task with invented example data; the check figures below come from the automatic test run and are not polished.
What was built
- Net shape layout with panels in the requested dimensions, closed contour
- Die-cut and crease line as spot colors, no printing over the contour
- Bleed, CMYK without RGB components, fonts embedded
- Barcode with valid check digit, cross-check with faulty version

Standard construction with tuck-in closure; die-cut standards, crease width and material allowance are determined by the print shop. No Illustrator file, a PDF is delivered. No structural calculation and no material selection. No printer profile is embedded, the preview image is a projection and not a render. The barcode number is an example; real numbers are assigned by GS1.
How it was checked
Automatic test run on 2026-11-01, taken from the log (test data invented, figures measured):
- Net shape 212.0x200.0 mm, closed contour (38 segments, CutContour+Crease spot colors), panels [60.0, 40.0, 60.0] mm + height 120.0 mm (target 60/40/60/40/120 +-0.5), bleed [3.0, 3.0, 3.0, 3.0] mm, ring colored 25/25, no overprint 25/25, 0 RGB commands, 2 fonts embedded
Limits
What this sample does not cover, so nobody expects more:
- no Adobe Illustrator file (.ai) - supplied is a PDF (opens in Illustrator, Affinity, Acrobat) with spot colors; customers with a requirement for .ai/.dxf need a conversion in their own software
- die-cut standards (FEFCO/ECMA, crease width, material thickness allowance, glue flap shape, register) vary by print shop - the net shape layout here is a standard tuck-end construction based on the dimensions that ...
- no structural calculation, no material selection (cardboard grammage, grain direction, stacking or load values) - internal dimensions, thickness allowance and strength are checked by the print shop or ...
- no print shop ICC profiles: CMYK values are set directly (no profile embedded, no PDF/X certificate); color-accurate printing requires the print shop's profile and proof
- EAN-13: check digit and barcode image correct and scannable on screen render; the number is assigned by GS1 - the sample number is a known example and not a license number; scan on real ...
- preview image is a perspective projection of the print areas, not a Blender render with material, light and cardboard edges (Blender 5.2 is installed on the PC, was not used here)
- spot colors as separation color space, but without optional content groups (OCG) in the PDF; white overprint, varnish, embossing, foil not included in the sample
