WooCommerce Configurator: Accessories only for the matching machine, rules from a CSV
For a fictional machinery dealer: accessories can only be added to the cart together with the matching machine, the rules come from a CSV file, and a bundle price applies starting from a certain number of matching parts.
Sample work (demo), not a client job. Built as a trial task with invented example data; the check figures below come from the automatic test run and are not polished.
What was built
- Incompatible accessories are rejected when added, with a message stating which machine belongs to them
- If the machine is removed later, the cart reports the error before an order is placed
- Rules as CSV: the shop manages them itself, a new import takes effect immediately
- Bundle discount starting from two matching accessory parts, accurate to the cent; shop and products are fictional
How it was checked
Automatic test run on 2026-10-31, taken from the log (test data invented, figures measured):
- WooCommerce 11.2.1 locally, custom plugin GL Compatibility (accessories only for the matching machine, rules via CSV, bundle discount from 2 parts 5 %)
- 14/14 checks green via the Store API (rejection with message, cart error after removal, new CSV import takes effect, control test without plugin
Limits
What this sample does not cover, so nobody expects more:
- local copy with SQLite instead of MySQL and php -S - to be verified on the client's staging copy
- Taxes off and virtual products: shipping, tax, and payment gateways are not part of the test
- Rules per product SKU (simple products); variants are checked via the parent product, not per variant
- no graphical 3D/drawing configurator (e.g. drawing sheet metal profiles) - that is a different piece of work
- Connection to merchandise management/ERP (e.g. Apilo) not tested; CSV import is the way for rules
