Lead list: Businesses of an industry with verified business email

This is what a lead list of mine looks like: public business addresses, email from the business website, verification, sources, and reasoning per row. The file here contains only fictional sample companies.

Sample work (demo), not a client job. Built as a trial task with invented example data; the check figures below come from the automatic test run and are not polished.

What was built

  • Businesses from public map data, email address only from the business website
  • Verification of email format and domain, industry matching, duplicates removed
  • Sources, reasoning, confidence level of classification, and verification date in every row
  • Note on cold email law of the target country

For data protection reasons, all companies in the sample file are fictional. Real lists are created for clients only. No data from LinkedIn or Google Maps, no purchased lists. The email check is not a delivery check; coverage depends on map data. Whether cold emailing is permitted depends on the country and is the client's responsibility.

How it was checked

Automatic test run on 2026-11-01, taken from the log (test data invented, figures measured):

  • Austin/Denver: 40 bus/12 mail/12 valid/1 industry out/2 cert
  • 40 bus/16 mail/16 valid/0 industry out/0 cert
  • Dupl 0=True
  • MX ok
  • Sample 5/5+5/5
  • 0 without industry match
  • TouchTo out=True
  • CSV 28

Limits

What this sample does not cover, so nobody expects more:

  • Only public business addresses from OpenStreetMap + own business website (data (c) OSM contributors, ODbL)
  • No personal/LinkedIn/Google Maps data, no purchased or leaked lists, no captcha/login bypass
  • Coverage depends on OSM: only businesses with a registered website, mostly 20-40 per city and industry
  • Verification = format + MX record; no SMTP delivery check, valid does not mean guaranteed deliverable
  • Role-based (info@) and free email addresses are marked; cold email law per country is the customer's responsibility (US CAN-SPAM; DE/AT/CA/AU consent)
  • Maximum 40 businesses per industry and run, >= 1 s interval per host
